Quiet Saturday
This past week has been quiet as well.I've also done some quiet evangelism and discipleship as well.Last nite I talked to 3 soldiers from the ___st Trans.,re:growing in the Lord[IIPeter3:18].They were young in the Lord and young in age.Primarily,I used the Gospel of John, which is excellent for young Christians.I thank God for the Bible college and training I have had.As I write I am listening to chapel message from BJU by Bob JonesIII entitled:"The Will of God for Your Life." I will never forget my conversation with him back in '90 in the former Soviet Union.I had argued for the importance of getting into Christian service as opposed to "too much" education. Well,it turns out how wrong I was and right he was! What a tragedy that I have made so many self-willed decisions.Even now,Dr.Bob just said,"We should say,'If the Lord wills',we shall do this or that." All I can say is that I hope and pray that I will somehow have an effective part in God's plan for the World[John3:16-18].Now there's another msg by BJIII from Jer.45:5,"Seekest thou great things for thyself?Seek them not." It sure is nice to relax and enjoy good messages. In commenting on the 2nd pt of my leave from Apr.3-8 that went thru Dayton,OH and North Indiana: I went from Ft.Wayne to Winona Lake and stayed there 2 days and 2 nights.I visited "Hephzibah House" a ministry for rebellious teen girls that was founded by Ron Williams.I first heard about this ministry in 1984 when Dr.Williams came and showed slides at church.I agree with Ron Williams strong Biblical standards of personal holiness. He was in TX at the time but I met some of his family and had a nice tour of the ministry. Grace College&Seminary was interesting from the stand point of what happens when you drop Biblical standards.I saw alot of evidence of the students doing improper conduct[ICor.5,6].Some of the boys had very long hair and wore ear-rings! I walked by the shores of the lake, visited the Billy Sunday and Rodyheaver Museums and attended a class on Revelation at the sem.I met some nice people, including a Romanian prof.of OT,Dr. Tiberius Rata.As we talked,we discovered mutual friends in Romania.I'd love to go back to Eastern Europe someday;but only if the Lord wills.Friday about 2:00pm I had to tear myself from the Grace College library and went on the road again travelling due west about 50 miles to Culver,IN home of famous Culver Military Acedemy on beautiful Lake Maxinkukee. Was I impressed! The campus was very well maintained with historic lg brick bldgs. I walked around and then along the lake front[the lake is very large and beautiful].As usual I gravitated to the library and sat on a couch with huge picture windows over-looking the lake.Superb! As at Grace,I looked at yearbooks from years ago.Culver went co-ed about 30 years ago.The women students are not military. I saw a few couples together and even an apparent "good-bye" kiss. All I can say is I am glad at least it was a boy and girl! I walked over to the athletic fields where a Lacrosse game was being played. The campus is so large that it took a while!I walked past the chapel and horse stables[both lg brick bldgs].The LaCrosse game was nice and I was impressed with the boy's aggressiveness. It reminded me of my own days of playing Lacrosse at Augusta Military Acedemy. I walked back for one last look at the campus and took a quick look at their cozy student snack shop.Again, a couple were holding hands as they dreamily faced each other across the table. As at Grace,I talked to some students and found out alot[for example, cost for 1 year is 30,000$!].As night fell I realized it was truly "time to go!".I drove south on IN state31 thru Indy and finally to my home sweet army home,Camp Atterbury!
